ABOUT THE SOCIAL LEASEHOLDERS' NETWORK

THE SOCIAL LEASEHOLDERS' NETWORK
Incorporating the London Leaseholders' Network (LLN)
& The London Forum for Council Leaseholders' Associations (LFCLA)

The Social Leaseholders' Network is the umbrella group for the Social Sector Leaseholders' Associations of England.

As the London Leaseholders Network (LLN) we meet each month in London to exchange information on developments in social sector residential leasehold.
Our meetings are consistently attended by leaseholder representatives from the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Camden, Hackney, Haringey, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Merton, Southwark, Sutton Tower Hamlets and Westminster in addition to a representative from the Campaign for the Abolition of Residential Leasehold (CARL)

The London Leaseholders' Associations published "The Case for Leasehold Reform (Enfranchisement) with an Amending Parliamentary Bill" in 1953.
The London Forum for Council Leaseholders' Associations sent delegates to the "Public Sector Leaseholders' Working Party" that was consulted on the introduction of the Commonhold & Leasehold Reform Bill.

In 2004 Haringey Leaseholders' Association, supported by The London Tenants Federation obtained a grant from Innovation Into Action, from a fund provided by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister through the Tenant Empowerment Programme and adminstered by the Chartered Institute of Housing for innovation in consultation with residents. This funding included a portion to be used for the formation of a London-wide leasholders' organisation and the London Leaseholders' Network came into being.

In our current form we contributed to the consultation on Section 151 of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act, we held a rally on April 26th and the York Hall in Bethnal Green immediately prior to the 2006 London Local Authority Elections and this was attended by 600 leaseholders with speakers from the five major national politcal parties.
We send two delegates to the Social Sector Working Party
and we have now been invited by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to send one delegate to the Mayor's Housing Forum Community Engagement Sub-Group.
